5 years of Zip: The people, the platform, and what’s next
A look back, and a look forward into the future of procurement.

Five years ago, we started Zip with a belief: that the entirety of business spend should flow simply and clearly across a company. That procurement shouldn’t be a blocker to growth, but a driver of it. And that the software powering it should actually work for the people.
Today, Zip is used by hundreds of the world’s most innovative companies to orchestrate business spend, from early stage startups to a growing number of the Global 2000.
And that belief that started it all is now a full-fledged movement.
From intake to orchestration and now agentic AI
In just five years, we’ve gone from introducing the concept of intake to defining a new category: procurement orchestration. And now, with a fleet of AI agents purpose-built for procurement operating across our platform, we’re once again pioneering another shift, this time into the era of agentic AI .
Along the way, our product has become deeply embedded across teams. It’s sticky, collaborative, and horizontal in a way few enterprise-grade platforms ever are.
We’ve seen teams leave Slack and email behind to work directly in Zip. And we’ve seen a new level of adoption that’s virtually unheard of: we’ve never churned a single Intake-to-Pay customer in our company’s history.
That kind of customer love doesn’t happen by accident. It comes from solving real pain, with elegant design and fast time-to-value.
It’s why some of the world’s largest and most successful companies choose Zip, and stick with it.
A global team powering global transformation
We’re proud of the growth we’ve achieved, and the speed with which we’ve done it.
Just this year, Zip is processing over $70 billion in annual request volume and $15 billion in payments, tripling our payment volume from a year ago. Our customers have generated $4.4 billion in savings, with an average 3.6% reduction in spend and 25% gains in productivity.
We’ve grown from a founding team of two to more than 450 Zipsters, with offices in San Francisco, New York, Toronto, and London, and remote teammates around the world. And we’re still hiring fast across every function.
But what excites me most is what’s ahead. We’ll continue landing iconic logos across the Global 2000 and expanding into the vast green space still untouched across procurement and finance, functions that have gone from the back-office to the boardroom, with Zip powering the progress.
Celebrating our customers and our community
To mark our fifth anniversary, we’re spotlighting the people and partners who’ve shaped Zip from day one. On our anniversary page, you’ll find reflections from five long-time customers, five early employees, and the broader community that’s helped bring Zip to life.
We’re also marking this milestone with the opening of our all-new San Francisco headquarters, 75,000 square feet in the heart of downtown SF. It’s a strategic move in every sense: more space, better terms, and a vote of confidence in a city that’s once again buzzing with innovation. In true procurement fashion, it’s the right investment at the right time.
And we’re bringing that momentum to everything we do, including our 2025 Zip Forward conference this October, where 750+ procurement and finance leaders will gather in SF to celebrate what’s next.
More AI innovation. More partnerships. More velocity.
Five years in, Zip is just hitting our stride.
Thanks for being part of the journey.
